[March 20, 2020 Update:]
Our previous communication mentioned we'd have an update regarding the weekend of April 3rd by today (Friday 3/20). We are continuing to follow CDC guidelines and are awaiting additional information at this time. We will continue to monitor the situation through the wekeend and will have a decision made by Monday, March 23rd. Thank you for your cooperation and patience. We'll continue to update and make decisions as best we can.
[March 17, 2020 Update:]
USSSA announced today that they have suspended the sanctioning of events until further notice. We recognize an indefinite time period such as this can cause concern and questions around if the entire season has been cancelled.
PlayMSP would like to clarify that the entire season has not been cancelled and we will continue to take it week by week, in partnership with USSSA. As previously communicated, we will be providing updates weekly. Each Friday afternoon you can expect an update from us on our activities for the following weekend, giving you a full week to coordinate with your team. At this time, we have communicated that all events through March 29th are cancelled. We will provide an update on events for the weekend of April 3rd by this Friday, March 20th.

The following events have been canceled: Baseball Turf Season Opener (3/20)
Like so much of the nation, we have made the decision to cancel all March 2020 events so as to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 across our nation. We are happy to transfer your registration to a future event or if you'd like a refund, please email us with your intention. We will provide an update no later than March 27th with an assessment of April events.

[March 12, 2020 Update:]
The following events have been canceled: Fastpitch Battle Royale
GENERAL UPDATE:
Effective immediately, we are adopting the below new measures at all levels of our organization.
“No-Contact/No-Handshake” Policy-
USSSA is immediately instituting a precautionary “no-contact/no-handshake” policy to be observed at every level of the organization until further notice. This includes all physical contact and extends to customary game-related activities, such as pre-game coaches’ handshakes, umpire-coach introductions, and post-game handshakes between members of opposing teams. Instead, staff, players and coaches should use verbal queues, such as saying “good game,” without shaking hands, high-fiving or fist-bumping.
Maintain Good Hygiene Practices-
All USSSA employees, membership and participants in USSSA-sanctioned events should be aware of the coronavirus risk and take the necessary precautions to avoid exposure to germs. This includes maintaining good hygiene practices. We strongly recommend the following:
- Wash your hands often, using soap and water for at least 20 seconds each time
- If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol; this is suggested after any physical contact with another person or with a shared surface
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
- Cover your mouth and nose – with a tissue, if possible – when coughing or sneezing, then properly discard the tissue in the trash
- Avoid close contact with anyone else who is coughing or sneezing or who is otherwise sick
- Clean or disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
We will provide updates related to these new measures or let you know about any additional precautions to take if and when they become necessary. PlayMSP does not have any events this weekend, but we recognize that the baseball and softball seasons are about to kick into high gear. At this time, we are awaiting further information and will assess closer to event times how to handle future events. We appreciate your cooperation in following these new procedures as we work together to maintain the highest health and safety standards as an organization.
As an organization, the health and care of each of our players, coaches, families and team members is of the utmost importance. At MSP, we truly believe we are better together, and it’s times like these where we need each other most.
